I congratulate NPIU team for the successful completion of TEQIP-II project and its achieved endeavors in field of technical education. India is currently going through rapid development and transformational mode. Education is subject
that surpasses the political divide, it is a nation building cause. I have a firm belief that creation of world class education system, comprising of Primary, Secondary and Higher education, is must for laying foundation of sustainable
development and prosperity of India. Good education system is built upon 5 pillars namely Accessibility, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability. Government of India is launching out many schemes to build a New Education
Policy keeping all the above factors in loop.
In developing countries like India, Higher education and technical institutes should try to focus on developing high-quality manpower to assist in National development. Rashtriya Uchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Establishment of 14 world class universities and National Research Professorship are some of Government of India initiatives in Higher education sector, keeping in mind the importance of higher education attached with Nation Building. For making the reach of technical education to last person in India and synchronizing with 'Digital India' Initiative of GoI, MHRD has schemes like Distance education and web-based learning (NPTEL), SWAYAM, Indian National Digital Library etc.
Ancient India had about 1/3rd contribution in World's trade, result of constant innovation and creativity happening in World Universities like Takshashila, Nalanda etc. To achieve that amazing feat again in world-trade contribution and in other areas, Quality of technical education has to be improved throughout nation especially in Focus states with the excellence in innovation and research strongly imbibed in it.
Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) phase III, the flagship project of MHRD is launched on April 1, 2017 by GoI to upgrade technical education in Government Institutions of Focus states and North-eastern region. National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU), Unit of MHRD is a task force behind handling all the project aspects of TEQIP-III. TEQIP-III will be implemented as 'Central Sector Scheme' with assistance of World Bank as Rs. 2660 Cr budget project. I hope this platform shall certainly benefit all the institutes.
I wish NPIU and institutes in TEQIP-III to make the project a grand success on its determined goals of improved technical education in India and focus states.
